Jem Stack sat down with our media team to run through his thoughts after Fordhouses made it through the qualifiers.
You were one of the teams selected to be in the competition’s inaugural preliminary rounds this season, with a bye round and then a win over Netherton. How was the experience for you firstly, and how will that have prepared you for the big week ahead?
Jem Stack - It’s always good to play more cricket and the potential of qualifying for the floodlit was an exciting prospect for the lads. We knew Netherton would be a tough game as they’re flying on a Saturday and beat Wolverhampton in the previous round. We played pretty well and got an idea of what works in this format of the game. Hopefully we can build on that this week.
It’s you, Quatt and Himley in group B, two opponents who have been here before. How big of a challenge do they pose in your goal to clinch the Floodlit trophy?
Jem Stack - Himley are a strong side with experience in the competition and home advantage. Quatt are also in a similar position to us, topping their Premier Division title and pushing for promotion. That will be an exciting opening game.
And lastly, how are you looking forward to the prospect of cricket under the lights, in front of a big crowd and it being all for a good cause?
Jem Stack - We’re all buzzing but I’m jet lagged so hoping I don’t drop a dolly on the first night!
