We caught up with Dan Pennell of Pelsall who made it through the Qualifiers to get his thoughts ahead of the week.
Both you and Fordhouses were the last teams standing in the inaugural qualifying rounds of the floodlit this season. You defeated Swindon in the first round and then overcame Wightwick and Finchfield in the second round. How were those games?
Dan Pennell - Both games were chalk and cheese really. Swindon we got 180 odd and a one stage they was on the chasing them down on that small ground of there's but we held our nerve and managed to get over the line by about 10 runs. The Wightwick game we played a near perfect game, we probably expected a bit more from them and I think they would say the same, we bowled them out for 90 odd and then knocked them off for 1 or something, proper team effort especially with the ball.
After last year's tournament there's four teams that have experienced the stage that your team are about to take. How prepared are you to face the challenges next week poses head on?
Dan Pennell - I think we're prepared!, but then everyone tells me how small Himley will be so how prepared can you be!!. I'm real happy with the squad we have available, unfortunately one of our best batters Jake Lee will be on holiday but that just gives a great opportunity for one of our other lads to bat well!
Lastly, we've spoken about the challenges that the competition will throw your way. I guess that there's a fair amount of excitement around the team and the club to play in the tournament?
Dan Pennell - Everyone at the club is looking forward to it, obviously the first time we've played in it, and the first time a lot if not all have played under floodlights. I think as first team players at the club as well we have a responsibility to represent our club well and inspire our youth and young players who will be over to watch, as in a few years to come it will be there turn to have a go!
